Phase 1: The white face
Place the four white corners on the bottom, each one between its two colors. This is the only intuitive phase: piece by piece, nothing to memorize. Always bring the corner you're inserting to the up-front-right spot and use one of the three turns below. If a white corner is already on the bottom but wrong, pop it out with R U R' and look again.
The whole white face on the bottom AND a solid band of color around it: each side of the first layer must be a single color. If white is done but the sides don't match, the layer is NOT finished.
